The US Open Snowkite Masters is once again rolling into Utah, and Sanpete County is welcoming riders from around the Globe to come ride, race and enjoy Skyline this weekend. The weather is shaping up nicely, with several good riding days this week already. The snow is deep with a few inches of fresh on top, and a chance of more before the event.

This is the 5th year for the Snowkite Masters to take place... or SKM as many riders call it. What started as a freeride event has evolved into a gathering of all the kite tribes. Not just the diversity of riders coming from all corners of the globe, but the range of passions each rider brings, from racing to surfing to gliding. Skyline is a location worthy of the SKM title, as it offers challenging terrain and consistent conditions that allow all Snowkiters to chase their dreams.
Over the past 2 years the SKM adopted the Kitercross and Winduro race formats, to offer Snowkiters a new challenge in the backcountry. The result was the birth of the US Open, offering the National Champion title... which has attracted some of the worlds most experienced wind powered athletes.
The Snowkite Masters is not just a freeride rally and competition, it is a melting pot of the Snowkiting world, stirring a positive vibe as our culture grows. The basic ingredients are simple, combine riders with good windand terrain, mix in music and a BBQ, and Kite Hard, Most riders take home good sensations, new friends and new techniques.
While the SKM at Skyline is well established as one of the headlining events in the country, it was not the original. In fact it is a sister event to a growing circle of SKM's that are erupting in countries across the globe. Listed below are a couple websites for these events.
